I have learned that Women are better Zombies than men.  To everyone in the "Man Loving, Woman Hating Club," you heard me correctly.  Women are better then Men at something.  And one of those many things is being a Zombie.  When I say Zombie I mean being sick.  Not that "I have a soar throat sick," but like "I think I'm going to die" sick.

Stairs.  If there is one memory that I brought home with me from China, it’s stairs.  I swear, the whole country is based around stairs.  Well, not really… but you may just have to trust me on this until you decide to venture over there yourself.

I was 26 and never been off the content I was born in.  Sure, I’ve ventured off to the homeland of Canada, and even been to Mexico (well Tijuana anyways, and most people will tell you that T.J. isn’t Mexico), but never traveled over the pacific or Atlantic Ocean.  I had the itch to move, and so did my buddy Randy.  It was time to venture off.  A good friend of ours, Phil, was living over in China teaching English and learning Mandarin himself.  It seemed to Randy and me that this may be the perfect time to do some traveling and see a bit of this large world we live on.  With a good friend already there to help play tour guide for us we figured it was time to go and knew it would be a good time all around.  We didn’t know then how right we were.

We both awoke early that Saturday morning in a slightly deflated air mattress at my buddy Paul’s house.  We had gone to see Demetri Martin perform in LA the night before, and it ended up being a later night than planned.  We packed up our belongings though and were on the road by 7:30am.  Laura quickly became comfortable in her seat and went back to sleep as I drove steadily to our destination.  The roads were as clear as the sky that Saturday morning, but the trip home was the longest it had ever been for me, with the engagement ring that I was about to present Laura with weighing heavily in my left pocket.   It was like the ring of Mordor with it bringing more weight to me as we neared the Fess Parker Winery.
