I enjoy comparing things to rainbows, and once my good friend and I were driving through a park when a squirrel challenged us to a stand-off. I picked up a camera in early 2005, and instantly fell in love. I will admit I was scared of still photography when film ruled the medium, but as soon as digital began to take over the world of photography I became interested. I used a friends digital Canon 20D and began to see how much fun there is in bringing the world around me to a standstill. It wasn't long before I had a camera of my own, and a website with which to share my photographs. I've spent most of my life working with moving images, from creating short stories in school, to editing the news, to working my way up to Promotions Producer shooting and editing commercials for KCOY CBS 12 and FOX 11 in Santa Maria California. I don't have a passion for photography, but I love playing with the camera. For me photography is a hobby, and I don't plan on turning it into a full time career anytime soon. To be honest... if I did take photos day in and day out I think I would get frustrated with it. So bringing my camera with me everywhere I go is never a necessity, but a choice. I love that fact that I can use my art to bring a smile to people's faces. I've never taken a class on photography, although I could probably learn a thing or two from it. I don't even know why they call it an "F-Stop." I just know how the camera reacts, and what I think looks good. I'm very happy that others seem to agree with me, and also like what I do. I charge a fair and honest price for my work because I like making friends, and helping people out. You shouldn't have to pay crazy amounts for some photos, when there is someone out there that is willing to do it for a fair price, and loves doing it. What I want to deliver to my customers is a photo that really tells a story and speaks to the person looking at it. I want the photos to be unique and meaningful to the client, and get away from the traditional look. I hope that years from now, somewhere, someone will look at one of my photos and be able to see a whole story told in a single image. Other than photography I love my life. I have a wonderful wife, hilarious little girl that enjoys calling me "silly," a wonderful house in Orcutt, California (where I grew up), and I am surrounded by some wonderful friends and family. Maybe one day turning this little photography adventure into something a bit more, but for now life is good and grand so why change that? But like I said before, this isn't my job, this is a hobby. This is fun. |
